Admission 2012-2013 Notification
LNJN NICFS MA MSc Criminology Course 
Eligibility:
 Bachelor's Degree of minimum 3 year’s duration in Humanities or Science with atleast 50% marks in the aggregate from any recognized university. The candidate should have opted at least two of the following subjects at the graduation level for a minimum of 2 years (or 4 semesters): Political Science, Economics, Geography, History, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry,  Botany, Zoology, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Social Anthropology, Police Administration, Public Administration and Correctional Administration , Forensic Science, Criminology.
The candidates must have studied all the three subjects in either of the combination for at least two academic years (or four semesters) in the graduation course. The candidate shall attach proof of such study by enclosing marks sheets of first and second years of the graduate course. Where only subject codes are mentioned in the front face of the mark sheet, the portion containing explanation of the code will also be furnished.
CANDIDATES IN FINAL YEAR OF GRADUATION: The candidates appearing in the final year of qualifying examination are also eligible to appear in the entrance test.  They shall have to attach the copies of marks sheet of the first and second years as a proof of their having passed the first two years with the subject combination prescribed. In case the mark sheet front page only contains the subject code, the portion where the explanation to the subject code should also be attached. They are required to produce proof of having acquired minimum prescribed qualification at the time of admission. The admissions to the above mentioned full time Programme will be made in the first Semester/ First Year for the academic session 2012.
SPONSORED CATEGORY
Admission under Professional Category: There is an in-service quota of 25% of seats in Criminology Programming for members of Police, Prison and Judicial Services and 25% of seats in Forensic Science Programming for Service personnel of State and Central Forensic Science Laboratories and Police Organisations. No entrance test will be held for the candidates seeking admission under professional category. Admission shall be made on merit, of the marks obtained in graduation examination. Please note that the candidates under this category also must fulfill the basic eligibility conditions specified against the programme.
The candidates seeking admission under professional category  in addition to the fulfillment of the eligibility conditions must have a minimum of 2 years of full time work experience as on June 30, 2011 in a Government Department/ Autonomous Organization, reputed Educational or Research Institution in the relevant field in which admission is being sought. A letter from employer must be furnished stating that the candidate is being sponsored to seek admission in M.A/ M.Sc in Criminology or M.Sc in Forensic Science.
RESERVATION OF SEATS: Reservation for Foreign Nationals/Persons of the Indian Origin/Foreign Students: 15% ( Fifteen percent) seats shall be allowed to be filled on supernumerary basis from amongst Foreign Nationals/Persons of Indian Origin/Foreign students over and above the approved intake in each programme. No entrance test will be held for the candidates seeking admission under this category.  Admission shall be made on the merit of the marks obtained in the graduation examination of the candidate. They also have to fulfill the basic eligibility conditions fixed by the university.
(i)                Persons of Indian Origin (PIO): Persons who are citizens of other countries (except Pakistan and Bangladesh) who at any time held an Indian Passport, or who or either of his parents or any of his grand parents were a citizen of India by virtue of the provisions of the Constitutions of India or Sec 2(b) of Citizenship Act, 1955 (Act No.57 of 1955).
(ii)              Foreign Nationals:  Citizens of all countries other than India  who are not of Indian origin as defined under PIO.
(iii)            Foreign Student: Foreign student in this context shall be defined as the student possessing a foreign passport.
SCHEDULED CASTES AND SCHEDULED TRIBES; 15% (Fifteen percent) seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and 7seven & half per cent seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes.  Any unfilled seats reserved for Scheduled Castes will be treated as reserved for Scheduled Tribes and vice-versa and will not be offered to any other reserved category.  In case sufficient number of eligible candidates of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are not available, the seats thus remaining vacant will be treated as unreserved.
A caste certificate in the name of the applicant from a competent authority will have to be submitted at the time of admission.  In case the certificate is in the candidate's parent's name, admission will be provisional.  In such a case, the candidate must produce the requisite certificate in his/her name.  A list of approved authorities for issue of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe certificates is as under:-
(i)         District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner, Collector, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Collector, 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate, City Magistrate (not below the rank of 1st class Stipendiary Magistrate), Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Taluk Magistrate, Executive Magistrate and Extra Assistant Commissioner.
(ii) Chief Presidency Magistrate, Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate and  Presidency Magistrate
(iii)   Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.
(iv) Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or his/her family normally resides.
(v) Administrator, Secretary to the Administrator or the Development Officer (Lakshadweep & Minicoy Islands).
RESERVATION FOR DEFENCE CATEGORY: 5% (Five percent)  seats are reserved for Defence Category(shall also include  armed forces of the Union & Police Personnel of the State and Union territories)  in the following order of priority:
i.        Widows/Wards of Defense personnel killed on duty.
ii.      Wards of serving personnel and ex-servicemen disabled on duty.
iii.    Wards of ex-servicemen and serving personnel who are in receipt of Gallantry Medal.
iv.     Wards of ex-servicemen.
v.       Wards of serving personnel.
For claiming reservation on a seat reserved for Defence Category, entitlement card in original issued by the Record Officer of the concerned unit or the regiment of the armed forces in case of personnel of the armed forces is to be produced at the time of admission.
Widows or wards of the officers and men of the armed forces who died or disabled in action must also submit a certificate from any one of the following authorities stating that the death or the disability, as the case may be, was attributable to military service:
(i)                 Secretary, Centre Sainik Board, New Delhi
(ii)               Secretary, Rajya or Zila Sainik Board
(iii)             Officer-in-charge, Record Office
(iv)             Ist Class Stipendiary Magistrate
The certificate in case of police and armed force personnel of State and Union territories and Ministry of Home Affairs should be signed by the Supdt. of Police / Commandant of the unit or organisation.
PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED: 3% (Three percent) seats in each programme are reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates. A certificate from the Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for Physically Handicapped, I.T.I Campus, Pusa, New Delhi - 110012 is to be produced at the time of admission, who will certify that the applicant is fit for undergoing the said course. (Appendix-A).
RESERVATION FOR KASHMIRI MIGRANTS: One Seat, which will be supernumerary, is earmarked for Kashmiri migrants in each course.  First preference will be given to Kashmiri migrants registered in Delhi up to 11.06.2001.  In case of seats still remaining vacant Kashmiri migrants settled outside Delhi will be considered.  A certificate of competent authority for availing admission against Kashmiri migrant quota is to be produced at the time of admission.   (Appendix-B)
PHYSICAL FITNESS: The applicant must be in good mental and physical health and should be free from any physical defect which is likely to interfere with his/her studies including active outdoor duties required of a professional. He/She shall be required to produce a Medical Certificate as per Appendix C, at the time of admission.
ELIGIBILITY REGARDING AGE
a.              Candidates seeking admission under professional category- No upper age limit
b.              Age of all other categories of candidates should not exceed 35 years of age as on 1st Aug-2011.
