Last date for receipt of applications: 06th October, 2012, up to 01.00 p.m.

Application Form

The candidate is required to download the application form/challan form from the PGI website http://pgimer.nic.in
After filling the application form, the candidate is required to send it by speed post/registered post to Registrar PGI, Chandigarh on or before 06th October, 2012
After depositing the fee with the branch of State Bank of India, the candidate shall send a PGI’s copy of the Challan form along with the application form and retain a candidates copy of challan with him/her for future use
The third copy of the challan form will be retained by the State Bank of India
The challan form is required to be filled up in the name of Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh (Examination) in the Power Jyoti Account number 32211613319 and those candidates who have SBI account can also pay their fee through I-collect service of SBI and I-collect account number is 32222954695
In that case the INB reference number will have to be mentioned instead of challan number in the application form
The fees for General/OBC/PH candidates is Rs 1000/- and for SC/ST Rs 800/-
However, the fees for DM/M.Ch examination is Rs 1000/-
The candidates should write his/her name, address, contact number and course name in which he/she apply, on the back side of the challan form

Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) is one of the medical and research institutions of Asia. Located in Chandigarh, India, it is recognized for its education, medical research and training facilities as well as for its graduates.

The institute has met the objective of providing educational facilities for the training of medical and non-medical personnel in all the important branches of health activity. PGIMER has attained self-sufficiency in postgraduate medical education and runs a continuous, full-time residency program in most of the specialties of medical sciences, e.g., medicine, surgery, pathology, microbiology etc.
There is an institute of nursing called National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE) which imparts nursing education.
PGIMER is involved in research for the rural and community related environment and health problems. There has been a steady progress in developing new research methods and strategies for the benefit of patients. The focus of research has been on tackling diseases like diarrhoea, tuberculosis, malaria, amoebiasis, HIV, leprosy, hepatitis, anaemia, leukaemia, hypertension, atherosclerosis, thalassemia, dental caries, stone disease, cancer, and sexually transmitted diseases.
