Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)

The sanctioned intake for the under graduate (BDS) course is 40 seats under the following categories.
1.      Puducherry Domicile – 29
2.      Non-Resident Indians / NRI Sponsored / Foreign students – 5
3.      All India Quota – 6

The selection of the candidates under the Puducherry domicile category is made purely on merit basis by the Centralized Admissions Committee (CENTAC), Govt. of Puducherry based on the marks arrived at by adopting the ‘method of normalization’. The seats allotted under the All India Quota are filled in by the candidates sponsored by the Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Govt. of India through the Entrance Examination conducted on All India basis. The admission under the NRI/NRI sponsored / foreign students are made on merit basis adopting the ‘method of normalization’. The duration of the BDS course is five (5) academic years without Internship. The BDS degree is awarded by the Pondicherry (Central) University after successful completion of the course.

Entrance Test
For admission to M.P.Ed. and B.P.Ed. courses, the Entrance Test will be based on a written examination of a single question paper of 2 h duration containing 100 objective type questions, each with four multiple choice answers having only one correct answer. For each correct answer one mark will be awarded while for each wrong answer 1/4 mark will be deducted. The final total marks awarded will be calculated out of a maximum of 100 marks. The question paper will be based on the syllabus for M.A./M.Sc./M.Sc. (Ag.) degrees in the respective subjects of the university departments of the Ch. Charan Singh University, Meerut.
The centre for Entrance Test will be Ch. Charan Singh University Campus, Meerut.

(iv) Application form is to be filled by the student carefully in his/her own handwriting. 
(v) Except in case of admission to M.Ed., candidates having appeared/appearing for the qualifying examination may also apply for admission to a course. But their candidature willremain provisional and will be considered only if they satisfy minimum eligibility conditions at the time of admission.  
(vi) A candidate having passed his/her qualifying examination as a private candidate shall furnish a certificate of good conduct from the Principal of the College or Gazetted Officer or an M.L.A./M.P. In case of candidates of the university departments of the Ch. Charan Singh University, the Admission Committee shall see that there is nothing against the candidate, which may debar him/her from seeking admission in the class he/she has been selected for admission. 
(viii) The self attested copies of the certificates, mark-sheets and other documents enclosed along with the application form shall be verified from their original documents at the time of admission.  
(ix) Attestation of photograph will be accepted only from the Principal of an Intermediate/Degree/Post-Graduate College/Head of the Department of University/Gazetted Officer.

Eligibility and Admission Criteria  
A student seeking admission to any Programme must fulfill the following criteria: He should have passed the qualifying examination of Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology from a recognized university with minimum % of marks as prescribed by the AICTE from time to time or equivalent cumulative grade point index,   
   
OR 
He should have passed any other qualifying degree / diploma examination considered as equivalent by Nirma University with minimum % of marks as prescribed by the AICTE from time to time or equivalent CPI. For admission to any of the M. Tech programmes in academic year 2012-13, minimum 50% marks (or equivalent) is required as of date.

Selection Procedure 

1. For all programmes, non sponsored applicants with qualifying GATE score as mentioned in score card (greater than or equal to qualifying marks out of 100 or score in respective discipline) will be given admission based on GATE merit. After the admission of GATE applicants if any vacancy remains then the same will be filled by Non GATE applicants based on the merit of the All India Basis written test to be conducted by Nirma University. 

2. Applicants who have applied for GATE category but having marks less than qualifying marks / score (of General category) will be considered as non-GATE applicant and has to appear for written test. Such applicant will be given admission based on merit of written test. 

3. Syllabus for written test for Non GATE applicants will be same as that of latest GATE Examination of concerned M. Tech. programme. There will be 60 objective type questions of 60 marks and the duration will be 1 hour. 

4. Appearing in written test does not guarantee admission. If all the seats are filled up by GATE qualified candidates, no admission will be offered to Non-GATE category. However the merit list of Non GATE candidates will be operated after exhausting merit list of GATE category. 

5. Admission of sponsored applicants for all M. Tech. Programme will be based on merit of qualifying degree examination.  

6.(A) In case, GATE Candidates are having equal GATE Score / marks, Non GATE candidates having equal marks in written test following criteria will be used for deciding merit order: 

(i) Percentage of qualifying examination based on which class is awarded for degree 
(ii) Percentage of eighth semester in qualifying examination 
(iii) If result is awaited then percentage of seventh semester in qualifying examination 
(iv) Date of Birth (candidate who is older in age shall be given priority).     

6.(B) Sponsored candidates having equal merit marks calculated on the basis of qualifying degree examination, merit will be decided on the basis of 6(A) (ii), (iii) & (iv). 

7. Admission to M. Tech (by Research) programme will be given based on the merit of the entrance test followed by an interview.

Eligibility Criteria: 
1) Candidates must have 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in Class 10 (average of all subjects). 
2) Candidates must have passed with 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks (average of 4 core subjects as indicated below) in Class 12 / QE (Equivalent Qualifying Examination). 
3) Percentage of marks in Class 12 to be computed as average of English + best 3 other core subjects.

Notes:  
• Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1 October 1987 in case of General category and 1 October 1982 in case of SC/ST/PH are eligible for admission. Date of Birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board Class X (High School) certificate only will be considered as authentic.
• Year of first appearance in the qualifying examination (10+2) or equivalent  – 2011 or 2012.
• Candidates with foreign diplomas should see the EdCIL website for equivalence (http://www.edcil.co.in), and if required should obtain an equivalence certificate from the evaluation division of the AIU (website http://www.aiuweb.org).
• In case any Board awards grades instead of marks, the calculation of equivalent marks would be based on the procedure prescribed by the Board.
• At the time of Counselling, candidates will be required to produce originals of Pass Certificate of Class 10, Marksheets of Class 10 and Class 12 showing requisite minimum marks, as well as Caste or Special Category certificates in proper format signed by appropriate authority (please see instructions).
• At any level of the studies [class X or class XII], a candidate / applicant must have passed all the required subjects at that level from the same Board.

A 4-week Course for new entrants to the world of publishing
The Publishing Industry of India is one of the largest in the world. An industry that is at once strong and vibrant, both in English and other Indian languages. The phenomenal growth of publishing in the last few decades, the coming up of more and more new publishing houses catering to specialised areas and the increasing global visibility of Indian writings have combined to create a need to produce and market books more professionally, offering a wide array of lucrative employment opportunities. Today there is a clear need for trained professionals in different areas of publishing editing, production, design, sales and marketing.
In order to meet this demand, National Book Trust, India (NBT) has been organising courses in publishing throughout the country. An autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, NBT was established in 1957 by the Government of India, with the objective to promote books and the habit of reading in the country. Besides publishing, which forms its major activity, the NBT is also involved in a number of book promotional activities, like organising book exhibitions, both in India and abroad. NBT also organises the biennial New Delhi World Book Fair, considered to be the largest book fair in the Afro-Asian region.
The 4-week training course in Book Publishing aims to give the participants an overview of publishing. Hands-on experience and interactive sessions form an important segment of the course.  Effective and participatory interaction is ensured through case studies, group discussions, project work and visits to publishing houses.The course is designed suitably, keeping in view the needs of the industry in the Indian context. Besides strengthening the knowledge in different aspects of publishing, the course also helps the participants to take up publishing as a career.

Many of our participants are now holding responsible positions in renowned publishing houses of  the country. Therefore the opportunities are immense.
Faculty Members of the faculty are drawn from leading publishing houses in India; specialised institutions and universities. They will provide insight into various aspects of book publishing.
SessionsSessions will be held in the premises of the National Book Trust, India, Nehru Bhawan,5 Institutional Area Phase II, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi - 110 070 from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm,Monday to Saturday for four weeks from 2 July 2012. Background materials for the lecturesand further reading lists would be provided to the students.
InternshipThe Trust has also made arrangements to send  candidates for training to different publishing houses as intern. Internship would be offered to deserving candidates subject to
selection of candidates by the publishers.  The Internship  would begin from 1 August 2012 for two months. Candidates interested in joining the internship may kindly indicate their willingness on the application  form along with their field of preference.
Enrolment & Fee The course is open to young graduates who are directly or indirectly attached with the trade and are inclined to learn more about it; and to new entrants in publishing who may wish to gain an overall view of the profession where a bright future awaits them.  The applicants would be short-listed on the basis of the questionnaire and a writeup on the topic as given in the application form and thereafter would be called for an interview for the final selection.  The decision of the Selection Committee will be final and binding.  No enquiries in this regard would be entertained.
Provision for boarding facilities are available on request for the out station participants (except NCR) at the NBT Guest House at Vasant Kunj, on nominal payment, subject to availability of rooms.
